This guide covers ceramic cookware, not stainless-steel pots or pressure cookers.
Choose the right use
Check that the vessel is suitable for your oven or hob type. An oven-safe ceramic dish is not necessarily suitable for a flame or induction.
Before cooking
Inspect the pot. Stop using it if cracked. Wash as instructed. Do not soak it or apply a preparation treatment unless the manufacturer requires it.
During cooking
Increase heat gradually when instructed by the manual. Do not heat ceramic cookware empty or exceed its stated limits.
Avoid thermal shock
Do not place a hot vessel on a cold or wet surface. Use a heat-resistant support. Do not add cold liquid to a very hot pot.
Clean and store
Allow it to cool, clean gently and let it dry before storage. For stubborn stains or unusual uses, consult the manual instead of trying abrasive methods.
